System Requirements

Windows: Windows 10 or later, 64-bit. Linux: Ubuntu 22.04 or later (or equivalent). See System Requirements for full details.

After Downloading

Run XdTd_Windows_Setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions. The application installs to C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\XdTd and is available from the Start menu after install. Your case studies and user data are stored separately in C:\Users\<User>\XdTd.

Two things to keep in mind on Windows:

  • Smart App Control (Windows 11) makes Defender re-scan the executable on every launch, which can slow down startup.
  • Default user data location: C:\Users\<User>\XdTd. If OneDrive redirects your user folder, XdTd's files go under OneDrive too — so they may not appear where you expect. Settings → File Paths → User Directory lets you pick any folder for case studies.

Install: 

chmod +x XdTd-1.0.55-Linux.run
./XdTd-1.0.55-Linux.run
Or simply: 
bash XdTd-1.0.55-Linux.run

Your data folder will be ~/XdTd (e.g. /home/<user>/XdTd).

Uninstall: 

~/.local/share/XdTd/uninstall.sh

Commercial Use

XdTd is free for academic, research, and personal use. If you use XdTd for commercial purposes (consulting, commercial projects, revenue-generating activities), a yearly contribution is required.

This operates on a trust basis — there are no license keys or enforcement mechanisms. We trust our users to do the right thing.
