System Requirements¶
Supported Platforms¶
- Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
- Linux Ubuntu 22.04 or later (or equivalent)
Hardware¶
XdTd uses dynamic memory allocation and takes advantage of all available CPU cores. It will run on modest hardware — just slower. The more resources available, the better the performance:
- RAM — The more, the better. Larger and more complex models require more memory.
- CPU — More cores means faster analysis, especially for parametric studies and multi-crack scenarios.
- GPU — A dedicated GPU significantly improves performance. XdTd uses GPU-accelerated rendering (OpenGL / WebEngine) for interactive charts and visualizations. Integrated graphics will work, but a discrete GPU provides a noticeably smoother experience.
- Display — A higher resolution display (1920x1080 or above) is recommended to take full advantage of the interface.
